Questions About Make The Connection Course

  • Do you offer this course online? (these courses?)

We made the decision, after a great deal of thought, product research, and investigation that our courses will remain face-to-face. It would be a disservice to course participants to only use an online platform as our courses are very hands-on and collaborative with participants working directly with and examining other participants. Lecture and video links do not offer the same degree of clinical skill application.

  • Why are these courses only open to limited professionals?

Diagnosis and treatment of orofacial myofunctional disorders is not a profession but a designated scope of practice for licensed professionals. Primary education (post-secondary and graduate) and clinical practice background is a requirement.

The Field of Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy

Myofunctional therapy is a type of treatment that is becoming more mainstream. It is based on the idea that the way we use our muscles can impact our overall health. The goal of myofunctional therapy is to retrain the muscles in the mouth and face so that they are used correctly. This can help improve overall health and address specific issues such as sleep apnea, tongue-tie, mouth breathing-related disorders, and teeth grinding. Orofacial Myologists or Myofunctional Therapists use a variety of techniques, including exercises, massages, and electrical stimulation. There is growing evidence to support the effectiveness of myofunctional therapy, and more and more people are turning to this treatment option.

With the rise in popularity of myofunctional therapy, there is a need for certified and trained therapists. The Make The Connection course is designed to give participants the skills and knowledge they need to become successful myofunctional therapists. Our Make The Connection hands on training maximizes the learning process and provides participants with the opportunity to apply what they have learned in a real-world setting. This course is ideal for those who are looking to enter the field of myofunctional therapy or expand their knowledge in this area.
